Photographic Artist: Kindra Barber
My interest in photography began in elementary school when I would set up still life photographs of my Paula Abdul and
New Kids on the Block memorabilia. When I was in high school my grandfather, who was a wedding photographer, mentored me
on using professional cameras and developing my own film. My love for photography grew through that time and my senior year
I took a photography class at Central Campus.
I decided to major in Art with an emphasis in Photography
at the University of Northern Iowa. After college I held several photography jobs such as a church
directory photographer, newspaper photographer, and freelance photographer at high school dances.
My dream, however, was to own a photography business of my own.
I met Kevin after a Des Moines Buccaneers hockey game we both happened to attend as a church function.
Through talking about photography we started a relationship and eventually married. About a year later,
Kevin and I started Barber Photography.
